We love the Sun! It is the source of all life on earth. It provides vital energy and is essential to support healthy bones through helping our body make Vitamin D. Getting adequate sunlight also supports healthy sleep patterns, has been proven in clinical studies to boost serentonin levels, therefore supporting a positive overall balanced and happy mood.
The sun has gotten stronger and the suncreens available on the market reflect this. Unfortunately, most of the sunscreens out there are filled with harmful chemicals which could be considered toxins and have long lasting harmful effects. You can read more about that here from Environmental Working Group.
According to the World Health Organization, getting anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes of sunlight on your arms, hands, and face two to three times a week is recommended to enjoy the vitamin D-boosting benefits of the sun. It is recommended if you’re going to be outside for more than a 15-20 minute period to protect your skin. We recommend wearing a hat, and reapplying sunscreen as needed and after being in water. We recommend investing in your health by making your own sunscreen. It's super fun! Check out this video we made showing how easy it is and for our recipe.
